It’s springtime, which means that the Broadway Show League is back! The annual event is something that Aaron Tveit has been involved with for many years now, allowing him to live out some of his baseball dreams — albeit on a smaller scale. Competing against fellow Broadway stars, he has once again joined team Rock of Ages. On Thursday, April 18th, they duked it out against Kinky Boots (although I’m not sure what the total score was).

Some more details on the BSL can be read below. Be sure to head to their website for further information.

Fans can catch Aaron playing softball at Heckscher Fields for team Rock of Ages. If you’re in New York, stop by Central Park to watch the games; they start at 11:30am. For more information, check out The Broadway Show League.

‘Jekyll & Hyde’ Broadway Opening Night

Yesterday evening (April 18th), Aaron Tveit attended the Jekyll & Hyde opening night on Broadway. The event also brought Megan Hilty, Steve Kazee, and Jerry Mitchell (choreographer of Catch Me If You Can) to the Marquis Theatre. Seeing this incarnation of the musical thriller might have brought back some nostalgic feelings for Aaron: Jekyll & Hyde was actually the first musical he saw on Broadway! I’m adding pictures to the gallery as they become available, though I hope to soon replace them with HQ versions.

Last night, April 2nd, Aaron Tveit attended the opening night of The Last Five Years at the Second Stage Theatre. The musical – written and directed by Jason Robert Brown – saw its off-Broadway debut with Adam Kantor and Betsy Wolfe as Jamie and Cathy, respectively. (Aaron’s friend and ex-costar, Norbert Leo Butz, actually originated the role of Jamie.) I hope to replace the arrival images with HQ versions soon, but I wanted to get these uploaded for you all in the meantime.

Aaron Tveit is currently attending South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. The annual event is an interactive conference used as a platform to promote movies, television shows, and hosts a large array of live music. This year, USA Network used the festival to launch the premiere of their upcoming series, “Graceland.” After many lucky attendees got to view a special screening of the pilot, the cast – including Aaron, Brandon Jay McLaren, Daniel Sunjata, Vanessa Ferlito, Serinda Swan, and Manny Montana – gathered together for a Q&A panel with fans.

This evening (February 24th), Aaron Tveit attended the 85th annual Academy Awards — his first! There are plenty of pictures of him on the red carpet, looking sharp in a suit and a pair of fun striped socks. He and the Les Misérables cast – including Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Samantha Barks, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen – all joined together onstage to sing as a group for the first time.

As part of a musical medley (celebrating Chicago, Dreamgirls, and Les Mis), the cast performed “One Day More.” Although it was truncated a bit, Aaron still had time to shine as he commanded the stage with Enjolras’ fiery passion. Check it out:

Last night (January 27th), Aaron Tveit attended his first Screen Actors Guild Awards. Les Misérables was nominated for the top prize at the event, Best Ensemble, at the prestigious award show in which actors vote for fellow actors. Although they lost to the cast of Argo, Anne Hathaway did win Best Supporting Actress for the film. There aren’t too many pictures of Aaron from the evening, but those few in the gallery are HQ thanks to the lovely DeAdele! Check out some videos below:

2013 Winter TCA Tour Hosts USA Network’s “Graceland”

January 7, 2013 • Category: General News, Graceland, Public Appearances, Television News 0

Kicking off promo early, “Graceland” had its first hard-hitting press coverage at this year’s Winter TCA Tour. Members from the Television Critics Association sat down with the cast of “Graceland” – including Daniel Sunjata, Aaron Tveit, Vanessa Ferlito, Serinda Swan, Brandon Jay McLaren, and Manny Montana – along with creator Jeff Eastin to talk about the upcoming USA Network series, which is said to debut in June. Pictures from the event have been added to the gallery, plus check out a summarized report from the panel below (detailing what to expect with the new show):

“Graceland,” an idea Eastin brought to USA, revolves around a group of diverse law-enforcement agents from the DEA, FBI and Customs whose worlds collide when they’re forced to live together in an undercover beach house in Southern California.

“Graceland” has a noticeably darker tinge to it (a concerted effort by the No. 1 cable network), and as Eastin told reporters Monday morning at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, the tone featured in the pilot and trailer will be “pretty much what you see” on the show.

“It is a dark show, but I consider it a reality-based show whereas ‘White Collar’ creates its own reality,” said Eastin, who called “Graceland” one of “the best scripts I’d written.” “There is a lot of darkness when it comes to being undercover.”

Eastin, whose “White Collar” was previously renewed for a fifth season, was candid about the pressure that follows being a creator of a successful drama. “Definitely there’s pressure. The one thing I learned from ‘White Collar’ was to cast it right,” he said. “Once you get a cast right, to try to maintain the world you’ve created in the pilot.

Though much of the core cast, led by Daniel Sunjata, Aaron Tveit and Vanessa Ferlito, is introduced in the pilot, there is one addition that comes in episode two. “[Serinda Swan] fits in very nicely,” Eastin said. “It was largely a matter of availablity. [At one point] we were worried we were going to lose Aaron to Les Misérables.” (Tveit shared that he landed the “Graceland” and Les Miz roles within two days of each other last year.)

NBC Hosts TCA Cocktail Party for Its Stars

January 7, 2013 • Category: General News, Public Appearances 0

With the ongoing Television Critic’s Association winter press tour happening, it’s no surprise that there are plenty of concurrent parties to be had. NBC threw a bash for their stars this evening, January 6th, at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena — and Aaron Tveit was there along with many others (including Adam Levine, Kathy Griffin, and the cast of “Smash”). Read about what Aaron had to say about stint on “Gossip Girl” below, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter:

6:56 p.m. Stage vet Aaron Tveit, who plays Enjolras in Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables adaptation and is set to star in USA’s summer drama “Graceland,” was candid about his past experiences in TV. “[Sometimes] you don’t always agree with what you have to do and that’s fine, that’s the job,” he acknowledges, alluding to his ‘Gossip Girl’ turn as Trip Van Der Bilt. “I learned so much doing that show.

The “Graceland” panel at TCA is tomorrow, presumably with Aaron in attendance. Hopefully we can expect plenty of images from the event, along with accounts from the panel and even individual interviews.
