Congratulations to Aaron Tveit and Team Catch Me, who won round two of the Broadway Show League playoffs! On July 28th, they competed against Sister Act and beat the soul sisters, 8-2. They’ll proceed to game three on Thursday, in which they’ll be playing against Anything In The Picture. Pictures can now be viewed in the Gallery.
On July 30th, a special guest decided to stop by Catch Me If You Can: Chace Crawford! Of course, Chace and Aaron Tveit know one another, each having been in the popular CW drama, “Gossip Girl.” (He’s also checked out Aaron in Next to Normal; view pictures here.) It appears he also brought his family along to show their support to Aaron and the Catch Me team.
A new article from City Guide NY has been released featuring the production of Catch Me If You Can. In it, Aaron Tveit discusses his discipline while performing, including a strict no alcohol diet and regular relaxing visits to a massage parlor. Check out the piece below; it has also been added to the Press Archive.
Word of mouth — an underrated publicity bazooka if ever there was one — along with theatrical daredevil Norbert Leo Butz’s off-the-chart rendition of “Don’t Break the Rules” on the 2011 Tony Awards broadcast, has (most deservedly, I might add) swept the high-octane musical comedy Catch Me If You Can out of the shadows and into an ever-expanding spotlight that has first-time audiences exiting the show in a “yowza” state of mind and ticket sales in a hearty upward spiral.
“We’d been pretty much flying under the radar,” says leading man Aaron Tveit, who plays the pivotal role of Frank Abagnale, Jr., the true-life, world-class con-artist who managed to pull off impersonating a jet pilot, a doctor and an attorney — all before his 21st birthday.
The show is based on the book and 2002 Steven Spielberg film of the same name starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Abagnale, Jr. and Tom Hanks as his Javert, FBI agent Carl Hanratty. (Butz took home the Best Actor in a Musical Tony for his portrayal of Hanratty.)

If you want to follow the results on a weekly basis, check out the BSL Effrat Division playoff graph.
Those in New York might want to stop by the Neil Simon Theatre tomorrow, July 24th, for a special benefit performance by the Catch Me If You Can cast and company. The 8 PM show is in honor of The Actors Fund, a non-profit organization that supports professionals in the entertainment business. Tickets are available at TAF website.
BroadwaySpace.com is hosting the annual Broadway’s Hottest Guy and Girl contest, and Aaron has been nominated! If you want to vote for him, check out the excerpt below and head over to the site to show your support.
The weather is starting to heat up all across the country… but that’s no news to us here on the Great White Way, where Broadway stars sizzle 365 days per year. However, being that it is a bit steamier than usual, summer is always a good time to crown Broadway’s Hottest Guy and Girl! Last year, your votes went to American Idiot stars Rebecca Naomi Jones and John Gallagher, Jr. This year, it’s anyone’s game!
Twelve guys and twelve girls are battling it out for the crown, and they need your votes! Click on the galleries below to check out this season’s nominees, and then click here to vote. Make sure you get your vote in by July 30… winners will be announced August 2!
With many, many thanks to the incredibly gracious Elin Flack, Aaron Tveit Fan can offer an exclusive look at Aaron in L’uomo Vogue! The magazine’s July-August 2011 edition not only includes a small article (you can read the English translation at the Press Archive), but a new and dapper picture of Aaron as well. Enjoy!
For those lucky enough to be seeing Catch Me If You Can either tomorrow, July 21st, or August 4th, you might want to stick around after the show: Aaron Tveit is scheduled to give talkbacks after the two performances. These onstage discussions will take place immediately after the 7:00pm shows. Audience members who wish to stick around can submit their own questions during a special Q&A segment with Aaron. Hopefully someone who attends will provide some details on the evening(s)!
Aaron Tveit, Kerry Butler, and company from Catch Me If You Can could be found at Bryant Park earlier today, July 14th. It was part of the annual event – Broadway in Bryant Park – hosted by 106.7 Lite FM. While Kerry played her standard tune (“Fly Fly Away”) and Aaron also performed the musical’s stand-out (“Goodbye”), there was a nice surprise: with a large stage and the ensemble on hand, Aaron and the steward(esses) were able to put on a nice production of “Jet Set” as well. Check out video footage from all three songs below, courtesy of Broadway World:
